Executive Director

Kimberly  Warren

Kimberly has a B.S. in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University. She has worked as a news reporter and photographer, as head certified pharmacy technician at a chain pharmacy, and has been a professional freelance photographer for over 20 years. Most recently she worked as administrative assistant to Bedford County Mayor Eugene Ray.

She has always been an animal lover and grew up in the country with all types of animals. She first became aware of companion animal welfare issues in 1990 while working as a news reporter at the Shelbyville Times-Gazette (Shelbyville, TN). She wrote numerous articles for publication about area animal issues and still does.  Over the last 10 years, she has become a very active volunteer of the Shelbyville-Bedford County Humane Association (SBCHA) and is currently a board member. She helps with fundraising coordination, photographing and posting animals for adoption, website updates, fostering and transports. She also currently volunteers time at Bedford County Animal Control (BCAC) in Shelbyville, TN.

In the spring of 2008, BCAC and SBCHA partnered to be part of the Rescue Waggin’ transport program funded by PetSmart Charities. Kimberly became an approved volunteer behavior analyst for the program by attending orientation training in Milwaukee, WI. All dogs over 5 months must be tested before they can be accepted on the transport. The program has saved the lives of hundreds of healthy Bedford County’s  animals since that time. Being a partner in this program, Kimberly has had the chance to attend many regional educational seminars sponsored by PetSmart Charities expanding her education in many animal welfare areas. She has also attended seminars hosted by the Humane Society of the United States, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Humane Alliance of NC.

In the fall of 2008, she and a few others met to plan a fundraiser to supplement a $10,000 grant given to Bedford County Animal Control for spay/neuter by PetSmart Charities. In March 2009, the Middle Tennessee Spay and Neuter Clinic was officially formed. Kimberly was chosen unanimously as volunteer board president. The clinic officially opened in a donated building in Jan. 2010. In Jan. 2011, Kimberly became the Executive Director of MTSNC and is now working to promote spay/neuter and humane education in the Middle Tennessee area.
